Joachim Trier reunites with Renate Reinsve for an intimate, darkly comedic drama about art, family, and emotional inheritance. Reinsve plays Nora Borg, a celebrated stage actress unsettled by her mother’s death and the quiet unraveling that follows. When her long-absent father, a once-renowned filmmaker (Stellan Skarsgård), resurfaces with a script written for her, buried tensions flare. Her refusal sends him seeking validation elsewhere — including from an American movie star (Elle Fanning) — only deepening the rift.

Nominated for eight Golden Globe Awards, Trier’s film blends sharp humor with emotional precision, capturing how creativity and family ties can both sustain and suffocate us.
